Jakarta - PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P) emphasizes that the existence of the Cilacap Steam Power Plant (PLTU) not only contributes to the provision of electrical energy, but also brings benefits to the community, the environment, and other sectors.
Technical & Operations Director of PT S2P, Irvan Rahmat, stated that the area surrounding the PLTU is maintained to remain pristine, even becoming a comfortable habitat for wildlife.
“In Cilacap, besides the unit being pristine, we have camels, we have deer—why did we create that? We want to say that if animals are comfortable, the area must be comfortable,” he said at the S2P Head Office, Treasury Tower, Jakarta, on Wednesday (August 13, 2025).
Irvan added that his eam hopes the Cilacap PLTU can provide added value beyond the energy sector. “We hope the Cilacap PLTU isn’t just beneficial from an energy perspective, but in all aspects, such as benefiting the community, the environment, state universities, and others,” he said.
He also mentioned that the relationship between the Cilacap PLTU and the local community and government is going well.
“Our presence in Cilacap has been very well received by the community and the government,” he said.
According to Irvan, the availability of local human resources in Cilacap is sufficient to support the PLTU's labor needs. In addition, the local government has played an active role in supporting the PLTU's operations and development. “The Cilacap local government has truly assisted us; whenever we need to submit a request, we are well supported, such as in facilitating the permitting process for construction,” he explained.
Through these various efforts, the Cilacap PLTU aims to be an integral part of regional development that not only focuses on electricity production but also on environmental sustainability and improving the well-being of the surrounding community.
